tricopter
I was searching sites for ideas on budget RC craft that i could put my own twist on, it was then that i discovered Hobbyking's Quanum Trifecta tricopter frame and the thing that really took my fancy was that it could clear 8 inch props, this meant that the electronics on my previous build could be imported onto the new frame fairly quickly minus the programming required to get it to work. So i ordered the frame, the servo required for it and also a Naze32 board as i wanted the functionality of the cleanflight or baseflight firmware it is capable of being flashed with. It came to around £45. This allowed me to experiment with cleanflight for future builds and i have to say i love it, the graphical U.I is very intuitive and makes it very easy to assign modes to switches, change PID settings and see where channels need reversing. This displays how good cleanflight is, you can see the configuration of my craft on the top left page, my failsafe settings for when i lose connection with the tricopter, the PID settings i have to fly my tricopter, the modes i have set to AUX switches on my transmitter and the servo tab which i used to center my servo which is imperative to flying the tricopter.
Thank you for reading this short entry, there will soon be another one as i want to make a miniracing quad and get my friends into the hobby as well which i will be documenting within the next week or so.
